Haven’t tried that. However, I have taken an empty bottle in to a public washroom, filled it, drank it. In fact, I did it again yesterday at the gym. Took a chance, washroom door didn’t have a lock. Was actually hoping someone would come in and offer to fill it for me. Will likely repeat tomorrow morning, I’m always thirsty.
